Late Night Macro Snack

Since my husband always sits down at night and eats about a half pint of ice cream every night, obviously I want to join in on the fun.  Granted he mostly eats coconut or almond milk based ice creams with dairy free chocolate chips, but I don’t always have the macros left in my daily intake to fit something like that in.  Although they are dairy-free alternatives and have much less sugar than regular ice cream, they still have a higher fat and carb count than some other options out there.

I used to avoid nonfat type foods because of the higher sugar content and weird ingredients I couldn’t pronounce but I’ve eased up a little bit on my rigidness when it comes to flexible eating desserts.  Don’t get me wrong, I still maintain as clean a diet as possible, but a cheat is a cheat.  Let’s be real.  If you’re eating a whole bag of dark chocolate covered coconut because it’s organic and “paleo,” you’re no better off than me eating a half cup of 35 calorie ice cream with one unpronounceable ingredient.  People think that just because cookies or sweets are paleo it means they can consume as much as they like.  My sugar intake throughout the day is like zero.  Don’t judge me.  I’m over it.  I’m cheating.  And i’m keeping within my macros so really it’s not cheating.  And I bought all my cheat foods at Whole Foods anyways so that makes it better right?

Depending on my leftover macros when it comes to nighttime snacking, I have come up with all sorts of amazing combinations.  Here are my current favorite three combos…trust me, you’ll love them.
